AYURVEDA
The secrets to good health and exotic beauty have been known to Indian physicians for thousands of years, preserved in one of the world’s oldest systems of health care and healing, known as Ayurveda. The word Ayurveda comes from the Sanskrit word ‘Ayu’ meaning ‘Life’ and ‘Veda’ meaning ‘Science or Knowledge’. It is not only a system of treating illness, but is a science of life and the key to a healthy living.
Ayurveda is a 6,000 year-old system of natural healing that has its origins in the Vedic culture of India and is often called ‘mother of all healing’. It involves use of herbal plants, extracts, minerals and essential oils to cleanse nourish and replenish health levels of the body. The idea was to attain longevity with good health.
Ayurvedic scriptures suggest that our skin is a reflection of the quality of the ‘Raktadhatu’ (blood) and the ‘Rasadhatu’ (body’s plasma tissue). This directly links the quality of Rasa and Rakta to skin glow. Hence,
“Glowing skin is the result of good quality Rasa and Rakta”
Ayurveda describes three fundamental energies or Tridosha that influence the function of our bodies on the physical and emotional level. These primary forces are known as Vata (Air and Ether), Pitta (Fire and Water) and Kapha (Water and Earth). Each person has a unique proportion of these three forces that shapes our nature.
When Vata is dominant, one tends to be thin, light, enthusiastic, and energetic. Such people tend to have dry skin and hair.
When Pitta is dominant, one tends to have moderate weight and good musculature. Such people tend to have oily skin and tend to be highly focused, competitive, courageous, and goal-oriented.
When Kapha is dominant, one tends to have dense and heavy bones, and lustrous skin. Such people tend to be stable-minded, stress-free, conservative, and don’t like change.
Every person is a combination of all three forces and for each element; there is a balance and imbalance expression. The nature of a person is influenced by the balance and imbalance in these forces.
Did you know? Triphala Juice is believed to have a highly beneficial and balancing effect on all three doshas.
Ayurveda has evolved over thousands of years and has now gained immense popularity in India and throughout the world. Ayurvedic therapies and practices have become an integral part of health care and wellness for a healthier life.
